Jo Bheji Thi Dua

It’s been quite a long time since I wrote any new post on my blog. Though I missed my blog a lot in last three weeks but I must say that it was quite relaxing and rejuvenating to escape from the things that keep me so busy. After a funfilled trip to Canada, I am back to my normal routine and all set to adorn my blog with some good music, stories and of course, the lovely photographs, clicked by none other than the budding photographer of Sharma Family, my wee brother, Rahul.

Of late, I have been watching many Hindi movies. And one of them, which I did not want to miss, was Dibakar Banerjee’s “Shanghai”. Unlike his last three classic movies, “Khonsla ka Ghonsla”, “Oye lucky Lucky Oye”, and “Love Sex and Dokha”, Shanghai is a very brutal and hard-core political thriller, which unveils the highly corrupt political system of India.

I watched the movie in bits and pieces and I quite liked the way story takes twists and turns. Besides a strong storyline, Shanghai boasts an amazing string of star cast who have done complete justice to their characters. Special mention goes to Emraan Hashmi, who would completely surprise you with his flawless acting skills. With Shanghai, he has redefined himself and  has succeeded to shed his image of a serial kisser.

Dibakar Banerjee is amongst one of the few directors in our industry who dare to think outside the box.You have to plunge in to the depth of his movies to appreciate Dibakar Banerjee’s work and  admire the sheer uniqueness and rawness of his film making skills.

Talking about the music of Shanghai, I would say it’s quite impressive and unique. One of my favourite songs is “Jo Mangi thi Dua”, which is an emotional tear jerker number. It is a very soft paced track coated in the syrup of beautiful music and fine poetic lyrics. The soothing music and the powerful vocals of Arijit Singh, Shekhar Rajvani, and Nandini Sirkar (who proved her mettle with Dil MeraMuft Ka) make it a soul touching spiritual melody. “Dua” is an addictive song, which will definitely cast a strong spell on your mind.

Kise poochun, hai aisa kyun
Bezubaan sa, ye jahaan hai

Khushi ke pal, kahan dhoondhooN
Benishan sa, waqt bhi yahan hai

Jaane kitne labon pe gile hain
Zindagi se kayi faasle hain
Paseejte hain sapne kyun aankhon mein
Lakeer jab chhoote in haathon se yoon bewajah

Jo bheji thi duaa, woh jaake aasmaan
se yoon takra gayi ke aa gayi
Hai laut ke sadaa

Saanson ne kahan rukh mod liya
Koi raah nazar mein na aaye
Dhadkan ne kahan dil chhod diya
Kahan chhode in jismoN ne saaye

Yehi baar-baar sochta hoon tanha main yahan
Mere saath-saath chal raha hai yaadon ka dhuaan

Jo bheji thi duaa, woh jaake aasmaan
se yoon takra gayi ke aa gayi
Hai laut ke sadaa
